For his galleryNOW debut,
the Macerata, Italy-born painter, Leonardo Ciccarelli, is
exhibiting land and cityscapes in different degrees of abstraction.
The paintings are composed of blocks and bands of contrasting
colors, rendered from different perspectives. Two such pieces,
Memorie and Paesaggio, share much the same palette of intense
blues and crisp whites, punctuated by a vigorous orange
gold.
Ciccarelli began his studies at the School of Art in Macerata
at the age of eleven, working with such masters as the painter
Vincenzo Monti and the sculptor Umberto Peschi. He has exhibited
throughout Italy and abroad, including NYC. Selected shows
include 12/00 Studio d Arte Due, Venezia, 6/00 Torino, Galleria
La Telaccia, Primo classificato Sezion e pittura, 6/00 Rimini,
biennale nazionale, and 1/2001, Bassano del Grappa, Studio
d Arte Due.
